Do not hesitate to pick one up if you see it on sale. Normal price is around $40, which is still very reasonable for what you get. I got mine on sale for about $25 on one of the overstock shelves in my local store. Larger clips could be added with a little effort.Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase. I suppose the alligator clips could be larger, but it does seem like the tender was designed more for smaller vehicles, such as motorcycles or lawnmowers. I've done it both ways and noticed no difference. For example, I'm not sure whether the tender should be plugged into the wall before or after I connect the alligator clips. This gives you extra versatility and should improve the life of the product. My main complaint is the instructions are poorly written. Plus, each set has it's own built-in, replaceable fuse. Now I use it about twice a week, and it only takes about one or two hours (I choose not to leave it plugged in but it appears safe to do so).I like the fact that you get two sets of attachments, ones that can be permanently mounted to a battery and ones with alligator clips. The first time I used it, it took close to 16 hours to reach full charge, which is close to what the instructions said it would take. I've had mine for a couple weeks and used it to charge the battery in my SUV since I don't drive it more than a couple a times a week. I think the Battery Tender Jr is just about perfect for the average person's needs. The BatteryTender Junior comes with one of the Terminal Cable Quick Disconnect so you only need to buy extra cables with quick disconnect if you have more than one car/truck/motorcycle and when you want the convenience of "plug-&-charge."Īlso, the unit will detect when the battery is fully charged and will not overcharge your battery, no matter how long the unit is connected to your battery. I would recommend getting a Battery Tender 12-Volt Ring Terminal Cable Quick Disconnect (Store SKU # 1000236030, about $7.49) for each one of your motorcycles, cars, riding lawn mowers so you can simply plug them in without having to gain access to the battery terminals (but that is NOT required to use this product). The long cord is especially convenient also. The single light on the unit is very easy to understand - nothing complicated, this thing just works. After a couple of hours the battery was fully charged and I was back on the road again! I took it home, connected it to one of my motorcycle batteries that had low voltage. I was a little bit leery of this product because of its low price.
